Caracalla

188–217 · 3rd century

Caracalla was Roman emperor from 198, jointly with his father Septimius Severus and then his brother Geta, and sole ruler from 211 to 217 after having Geta murdered. His Constitutio Antoniniana of 212 granted Roman citizenship to almost all free inhabitants of the empire, and he built the great Baths of Caracalla in Rome. He was assassinated near Carrhae while campaigning against Parthia.
