Die, Drôme

Also known as Dea Augusta

Die is a small town in the Drôme valley in south-eastern France. As Dea Augusta it replaced Luc-en-Diois under the Roman Empire as one of the chief towns of the Vocontii, and it later became the seat of a bishopric; parts of its Roman walls and a monumental gate survive. It is known for its sparkling wine, Clairette de Die.
