Mont Ventoux

Mont Ventoux is a mountain in Provence, south-eastern France, rising to 1,910 metres north-east of Avignon, the highest peak in the region. Its bare limestone summit is visible from far across the Rhône valley. The poet Petrarch described climbing it in 1336, and it is famous as one of the hardest climbs of the Tour de France.
