Doha Agreement (2020)

2020 · 21st century · Also known as US–Taliban agreement · Part of the War in Afghanistan (2001–2021)

The Doha Agreement was signed on 29 February 2020 in Doha, Qatar, between the United States and the Taliban. The United States agreed to withdraw all its troops from Afghanistan within fourteen months, and the Taliban promised not to let al-Qaeda use Afghan territory and to open talks with the Afghan government, which was not a party. The withdrawal was followed by the Taliban's takeover in August 2021.
