Kabul

Kabul is a city in present-day Afghanistan, strategically placed on routes between Central Asia and India. Babur, the last Timurid prince expelled from Central Asia, took Kabul and used it as his base. From there he invaded India and founded the Mughal Empire, as Timurid rule in Central Asia came to an end.
