Dominican Liberation Party

1973–present · 20th century

The Dominican Liberation Party is a political party of the Dominican Republic, founded in 1973 by Juan Bosch after he left the Dominican Revolutionary Party. Under Leonel Fernández (1996–2000 and 2004–2012) and Danilo Medina (2012–2020) it held the presidency for most of two decades. It lost power in 2020, after a split in which Fernández formed a new party.
