Don Quixote

1605–1615 · 17th century

Don Quixote is a novel by Miguel de Cervantes, published in two parts in 1605 and 1615. It tells of a Spanish gentleman who, his mind turned by reading chivalric romances, sets out as a knight-errant with his squire Sancho Panza. Mixing comedy, satire and reflection on reality and fiction, it is often called the first modern novel and is the most celebrated work of Spanish literature.
