Drogo of Hauteville
Drogo of Hauteville was a Norman adventurer who led the Normans of Apulia as count from 1046 until his murder in 1051. A son of Tancred of Hauteville, he came to southern Italy with his brother William Iron Arm and succeeded him, receiving investiture from Emperor Henry III in 1047. He was assassinated in a church at Montolio, probably in a conspiracy of Lombard nobles.
