Dundo Maroje
Dundo Maroje is a prose comedy by the Ragusan writer Marin Držić, first performed in Dubrovnik in 1551. It follows an old merchant, Maroje, who travels to Rome to recover money squandered by his son, and satirises greed and social pretension. Written in the Croatian of Dubrovnik, it is the best-known work of Croatian Renaissance theatre and is still regularly staged.
