Dungarendra Singh

r. c. 1425–1459 · 15th century · Also known as Dungar Singh

Dungarendra Singh was a Tomara ruler of Gwalior in the 15th century. He resisted attacks from neighbouring sultanates and patronised Jain communities, under whom the colossal Jain images were carved into the rock faces around Gwalior Fort, work continued by his son Kirti Singh. His reign strengthened Gwalior as a regional power before Man Singh Tomar's.
