Timur
Timur, also known as Tamerlane, was a Turco-Mongol conqueror who rose to power in Transoxiana in the late fourteenth century and founded the Timurid Empire. His campaigns stretched from Anatolia to India, including the sack of Delhi in 1398, and were marked by extreme brutality. He made Samarkand his capital, and his descendant Babur later founded the Mughal Empire.
