Eadberht of Northumbria
Eadberht (died 768) was king of Northumbria from 737 to 758, ruling in partnership with his brother Ecgbert, archbishop of York. He issued coins in his own name, annexed Kyle in Ayrshire in 750 and in 756, with the Pictish king Óengus, forced the Britons of Dumbarton to submit, though his army was destroyed soon after. He abdicated in 758 to become a monk at York.
