Ecuadorian–Peruvian War
The Ecuadorian–Peruvian War was a border war fought in July 1941 between Ecuador and Peru over disputed Amazonian and coastal territory. Peru's better-equipped army defeated the Ecuadorians at Zarumilla and occupied the province of El Oro; the Rio Protocol of 1942 gave Peru most of the disputed land, though the border dispute flared again until 1998.
