Edinburgh
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland, on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth. Its castle rock was Din Eidyn, the stronghold of the British kingdom of Gododdin, until the Northumbrians took it, probably in 638. From the 15th century it was Scotland's capital, the seat of the royal court and parliament, and in the 18th century it was a centre of the Scottish Enlightenment.
