Aberdeen
Aberdeen is a city and port in north-east Scotland, between the mouths of the rivers Dee and Don. A royal burgh from the twelfth century, it traded wool, hides and fish with the Low Countries and the Baltic, and its first university college, King's College, was founded in 1495. Known for its granite buildings, it became the centre of the British North Sea oil industry from the 1970s.
