Ekiti people
The Ekiti are a Yoruba subgroup of south-western Nigeria, living in hilly country now forming Ekiti State. Organised in many small kingdoms, they were dominated by Ibadan from the mid-19th century. In 1877 they formed the Ekitiparapo alliance with the Ijesha and fought Ibadan in the long Kiriji War, ended by British mediation in 1886.
