Emden

Emden is a port city in East Frisia, Lower Saxony, Germany, near the mouth of the Ems on the Dollart bay. In the 16th century it received many Protestant refugees from the Netherlands and became a centre of the Reformed Church, sometimes called the 'Geneva of the North'. Its burghers, with Dutch support, long resisted the counts and princes of East Frisia.
