Frisia

Frisia is the coastal region along the southern North Sea inhabited by the Frisians, which in its widest early medieval extent reached from the Zwin near Bruges to the Weser. Conquered by the Franks in the 8th century, its lands were later divided between the Dutch province of Friesland, Groningen, East Frisia in Germany and North Frisia in Schleswig. Frisian languages are still spoken in parts of the region.
