Estero Bay
Estero Bay is a shallow estuary on the south-west coast of Florida, between Fort Myers Beach and Bonita Springs, sheltered by barrier islands. Its mangrove waters supported the Calusa, whose capital stood on Mound Key in the bay. In 1966 it became the first aquatic preserve established by the state of Florida.
