Estonian Provincial Assembly
The Estonian Provincial Assembly, or Maapäev, was the elected council of the Autonomous Governorate of Estonia, created after the February Revolution in Russia and first meeting in July 1917. On 28 November 1917 it declared itself the supreme authority in Estonia before Bolsheviks dispersed it. Its Council of Elders set up the Salvation Committee, which proclaimed the Republic of Estonia in February 1918.
