Fort Dorothea

Fort Dorothea was a small fort built by the Brandenburgers in the 1680s at Akwidaa on the western coast of Ghana, named after Dorothea, wife of the Great Elector. Held for a time by the Dutch, it was one of the minor posts of the Brandenburger Gold Coast colony and survives only as a ruin.
