Gross Friedrichsburg
Gross Friedrichsburg was a fort founded in 1683 by Brandenburg at Pokesu, now Princes Town, on the western coast of Ghana. The chief post of the Brandenburg African Company, it was sold to the Dutch West India Company in 1717, though the local leader John Konny held it until 1724. Renamed Fort Hollandia, it survives as a ruin and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
