Franco-Moroccan War
The Franco-Moroccan War was fought in 1844 between France and the Sultanate of Morocco, which had given refuge and support to the Algerian resistance leader Abd al-Qadir. A French fleet bombarded Tangier and Mogador, and Marshal Bugeaud defeated the Moroccan army at the Battle of Isly in August. The Treaty of Tangier obliged Morocco to stop supporting Abd al-Qadir.
