Frombork

Also known as Frauenburg

Frombork (German Frauenburg) is a small town in northern Poland on the Vistula Lagoon. From the 13th century it was the seat of the cathedral chapter of Warmia, whose fortified Gothic cathedral stands on a hill above the town. Nicolaus Copernicus lived there as a canon for much of his life, wrote his work on the motion of the heavens there, and was buried in the cathedral in 1543.
