Old Prussians

Also known as Prussians (Baltic people), Baltic Prussians

The Old Prussians were a Baltic people who lived between the lower Vistula and the Neman on the south-eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. Pagan into the 13th century, they were conquered by the Teutonic Order between the 1230s and the 1280s after fierce resistance, and German and Polish settlers moved into their lands. Their language died out around 1700, but their name passed to the state of Prussia.
