Galeazzo Malatesta

1385–1461 · 15th century

Galeazzo Malatesta, nicknamed 'the Inept', was lord of Pesaro from 1429 to 1445. Burdened by debts and threatened by his cousin Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, in 1445 he sold Pesaro to Alessandro Sforza, husband of his granddaughter Costanza da Varano, and Fossombrone to Federico da Montefeltro. The sale ended Malatesta rule in Pesaro.
