Gambaga

Gambaga is a town in the North East Region of Ghana, on the Gambaga escarpment. It was the early capital of the Mamprugu kingdom before the court moved to Nalerigu around 1700, and it remained a trading town on routes to the Hausa lands. In the colonial period it served as an early British administrative centre in the Northern Territories.
