Gangavadi
Gangavadi was the region of southern Karnataka ruled by the Western Ganga dynasty from the 4th to the 10th century, with its capital eventually at Talakad on the Kaveri. The Cholas conquered it around 1004, and the Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana took it from them in 1116, making it the core of the Hoysala kingdom.
