Gaullism

Gaullism is the French political current that follows the ideas of Charles de Gaulle, stressing national independence, a strong state and a powerful head of state. It grew from the Free French and the Resistance and shaped the constitution of the Fifth Republic in 1958. Gaullist parties, from the Rally of the French People to its successors, have been a main force of the French right.
