French Committee of National Liberation
The French Committee of National Liberation was formed in Algiers in June 1943, uniting Charles de Gaulle's Free French with the forces of General Henri Giraud in North Africa. It acted as the government of France outside German control, directing French forces and the Resistance, and de Gaulle soon became its sole leader. In June 1944 it became the Provisional Government of the French Republic.
