Gelou

fl. c. 900 · 10th century

Gelou is a ruler described in the Gesta Hungarorum, written around 1200, as a Vlach duke in Transylvania at the time of the Hungarian conquest around 900. According to the chronicle he was defeated by the Hungarian chieftain Tuhutum and killed while fleeing, after which his people accepted Tuhutum as their lord. No other source mentions him, and historians dispute whether he existed.
