Tuhutum

fl. c. 900 · 10th century

Tuhutum is a Hungarian chieftain named in the Gesta Hungarorum as the conqueror of Transylvania around 900, who defeated the Vlach duke Gelou. The chronicle makes him the ancestor of the gyulas who ruled Transylvania in the 10th century, and so of Sarolt, mother of King Stephen I. Like much of the Gesta, the account is debated by historians.
