10th century · 10th century

Sarolt was a Hungarian noblewoman, daughter of the gyula who ruled in Transylvania, who married Géza, Grand Prince of the Hungarians. She was the mother of Stephen I, the first king of Hungary. The German chronicler Thietmar of Merseburg described her as a forceful, hard-drinking woman who rode like a warrior and held great influence over her husband's rule.
