Globalisation
Globalisation refers to the increasing interconnection of the world's economies and societies through trade, migration and the spread of ideas. The Parthian Empire contributed to early forms of it through its position on the Silk Road, while the Portuguese Empire is seen as a founder of modern globalisation by linking all inhabited continents through maritime trade.
