Gobroon dynasty

18th century– · 18th century

The Gobroon dynasty was the ruling house of the Geledi clan of southern Somalia, which rose to power at Afgooye on the Shabelle river in the early 18th century after the fall of the Ajuran Sultanate. Under sultans such as Yusuf Mahamud Ibrahim it dominated the region in the 19th century. After the Geledi accepted Italian rule in 1908 the line survived as a traditional house.
