Gobustan
Gobustan is a rocky upland south-west of Baku in Azerbaijan, protected as a national reserve and inscribed by UNESCO in 2007 for its thousands of rock carvings, made from the late Palaeolithic onwards. At the foot of Boyukdash mountain a Latin inscription records a detachment of Legio XII Fulminata under the emperor Domitian, the easternmost Latin inscription known.
