Shebelle River
The Shebelle River, or Wabi Shebelle, rises in the Ethiopian Highlands and flows south-east into Somalia, where it ends in marshes near the coast without reaching the sea. Its upper valley bordered the medieval Muslim sultanates of the Ethiopian interior, among them Dawaro to the north and Bale to the south.
