Godavaya
Godavaya is an archaeological site on the south coast of Sri Lanka, near the mouth of the Walawe river in Hambantota District. An ancient harbour there is recorded in an early inscription granting its customs dues to a Buddhist monastery, and a shipwreck found offshore, dated to between the 2nd century BCE and the 1st century CE, is among the oldest known in the Indian Ocean. It shows the southern kingdom of Ruhuna's part in early maritime trade.
