Golden Bull of Rimini

1226 · 13th century

The Golden Bull of Rimini was a decree of Emperor Frederick II, dated March 1226 at Rimini, though possibly issued later. It confirmed the Teutonic Order's possession of the Chełmno Land, granted by Duke Konrad I of Masovia, and of any lands it conquered from the pagan Prussians, giving its Grand Master the rights of an imperial prince there. It was the legal basis of the Order's state in Prussia.
