Gorey
Gorey is a harbour village on the east coast of Jersey, in the parish of Grouville and St Martin, facing the coast of Normandy. It is overlooked by Mont Orgueil Castle, built after 1204 to defend the island against France. In the nineteenth century Gorey grew with the oyster fishery and shipbuilding, and its harbour remains a centre of the island's life.
