Gracchi

Also known as Gracchi brothers

The Gracchi were the brothers Tiberius and Gaius Sempronius Gracchus, tribunes of the plebs in Rome in 133 and 123–122 BCE. They proposed laws to redistribute public land to poor citizens and other reforms, and both were killed with many supporters by their opponents in the Senate. Their deaths are often seen as the start of the violence that destroyed the Roman Republic.
