Person
Tiberius
Tiberius was the second Roman emperor, ruling from 14 to 37 CE as the stepson and adopted heir of Augustus. Before his accession he was Rome's leading general, campaigning in Pannonia, Illyricum and Germany and crushing the Great Illyrian Revolt of 6–9 CE. As emperor he annexed Cappadocia and Commagene, and in his later years he withdrew to Capri, leaving Rome to the prefect Sejanus.
