Great Zimbabwe
Great Zimbabwe is a ruined city of monumental dry-stone enclosures on the Zimbabwean plateau in southern Africa, the centre of a major state in the medieval period. Its decline was followed by the rise of successor states on the plateau. The Mutapa Empire emerged in its wake, and the Rozvi Empire later revived its stone-building tradition, making Great Zimbabwe a key reference point for both.
