Grenoble
Grenoble is a city in south-eastern France, at the meeting of the Isère and Drac rivers among the Alps. It was the capital of the Dauphiné, whose ruler Humbert II founded its university in 1339, and it was the seat of a parlement. The 'Day of the Tiles' riot there in 1788 is seen as an early sign of the French Revolution. It hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 1968.
