Griqua
The Griqua are a people of southern Africa of mixed Khoikhoi, European and other descent, who speak Afrikaans. Mounted and armed with guns, they moved beyond the Cape Colony's northern frontier in the late 18th and early 19th centuries and formed communities under the Kok and Waterboer families at Griquatown, Philippolis, Griqualand West and Griqualand East.
