Grootfontein

Grootfontein is a town in the Otjozondjupa Region of north-eastern Namibia, named after a large spring. Dorsland Trek Boers settled there in 1885 and founded the short-lived Republic of Upingtonia. Under German rule it became a military post and mining centre, and the Hoba meteorite, the largest known, lies nearby.
