Grosseto

Grosseto is a city in southern Tuscany, Italy, on the plain of the Ombrone River near the Tyrrhenian coast. It replaced the nearby Etruscan and Roman town of Rusellae as the seat of the bishopric in 1138. Long hindered by malaria in the surrounding Maremma, it grew after the marshes were drained and is now the capital of its province.
