Ha Long Bay
Ha Long Bay is a bay in the Gulf of Tonkin in northern Vietnam, known for its thousands of limestone islands and pillars. On 5 June 1948 an agreement signed aboard a French warship in the bay recognised in principle the independence of Vietnam within the French Union, preparing the return of Bảo Đại. The bay has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994.
