Hà Tiên
Hà Tiên is a port on the Gulf of Thailand in southern Vietnam, near the Cambodian border. Originally the Cambodian town of Peam, it was developed in the late 17th century by the Chinese exile Mạc Cửu into a trading port, which he placed under Vietnamese Nguyễn protection around 1708. It became a hereditary principality of the Mạc family.
