Mạc Thiên Tứ was the second ruler of the Hà Tiên principality on the Gulf of Thailand, succeeding his father Mạc Cửu in 1735 as a vassal of the Nguyễn lords. A patron of letters, he gathered Chinese and Vietnamese poets in a literary society and intervened in Cambodian successions. Driven out by Taksin of Siam in 1771, he later went to Bangkok, where he died in 1780.
